If you’re blind or have difficulty reading a computer screen, we have several recommends that should help:

  • Download Speechify to give yourself the ability to hear text spoken aloud.
  • A screen reader can be a navigation game changer. We definitely recommend trying Jaws – it’s the most popular screen reader in the US.

Need an ASAP solution?

Try one, any, or all of these time-tested techniques:

  • Increase the size of the text.
  • Magnify your screen.
  • Change your background and text colors for more contrast and less eye strain.
  • Make your mouse more visible by changing the size and/or color.
  • Utilize closed captioning. Most NOR video content include accurate, perfectly timed captions. Learn how to turn captioning on and off in YouTube.

Speech to text (and vice versa!)

Whether you have a disability or simply prefer speaking to typing, it’s Dragon Naturally Speaking to the rescue. This speech recognition software allows you to navigate, surf, peruse, or simply focus on the business at hand.

Apple has a snappy app that pairs with most mobile products called HoverText that allows you to magnify the size of a word simply by hovering over it.

Transcripts

Transcripts are available for practically every television show and podcast under the sun. However, getting a transcript directly from a production company will run upwards of $20 plus copying and shipping.
